Workforce Diversity: Training Disabled People in the Fitness and Leisure Sector

In March 2022, EmployAbility Leisure was launched, which is an initiative to create more accessible and inclusive training and workplaces for disabled people in the leisure sector. Based on the EmployAbility Leisure Guidance, this elearning CPD module has been created to specifically train and support Tutors and Assessors to successful include disabled people as learners in leisure and fitness qualifications and continual professional development courses.

Why is this important? Although 1 in 5 of the working-age population in the UK have an impairment, only 52% are employed compared to 81% of non-disabled people, and there are indications that the employment gap is far greater within the leisure sector workforce. Attendees of this course will gain confidence and knowhow to maximise the opportunities of including an untapped audience of learners, as well as meeting their duties within the Equality Act 2010.

This workshop is partially mapped to the CIMSPA standard working inclusively working with disabled people and will provide attendees that complete the elearning module with 2 CPD points.

This course is available to purchase for a group of learners. Discounts are available for 10 or more learners, contact education@sportstructures.com for more information
